What is a Board-Certified Colon and Rectal Surgeon?
A board-certified colon and rectal surgeon, also known as a proctologist, is a medical physician who specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of conditions that affect the lower digestive tract (i.e., the large intestine), including diseases of the anus.
Becoming a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon requires years of intense speciality training including college (4 years), medical school (4 years), internship (1 year), general surgery residency (4 years), colon and rectal surgery fellowship (1 year) and board certification by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgeons.
At PRiSMA Proctology Surgical Medicine & Associates, each patient will be personally evaluated and treated by Dr. Gajjar who is board-certified in both General Surgery & Colon and Rectal Surgery.
